This is one of my entries for the typo day 2012 poster competition. We were required to do a poster using a word in our mother tongue. Harakhpadudi is a Gujarati term referring to someone who is overly excited. I have handlettered this word and then digitally coloured it. Through its informal form and fresh colors, I have tried to depict overjoyousness and a rush of excitement.

Michchhami Dukkadam is a Prakrit phrase. Michchhami (Mithya) means to be fruitless (forgiven) and Dukkadam (Dushkrut) means bad deeds. So the concept of wishing someone ‘Michhami Dukkadam’ is that we ask for forgiveness from inner of our hearts for whatever misdeeds or mis-behaviour whether knowingly or unknowingly occured by us to you through mind, thoughts, actions or speech during the past year. Though it is a festive greeting, it has a more serious and respectful tone, unlike greetings like ‘Saal Mubaraak. Hence I tried to retain a formal look inspite of its stylized form and used simple colors.

Lunch Invite

An aunt had asked me to design an invite for a lunch party to celebrate the occasion of her son's wedding for his office colleagues. I kept procrastinating and the event passed. Months later I found a half finished graphic that I felt like finishing. so now, if any of you is getting married soon, I have a design option ready:P

Done as a part of a class assignment, this image expresses something I enjoy doing a lot- lying down in the grass under a tree with a book or simply stare at the sky above, loosing all sense of time.The beautiful lawns at the Nid campus lets me do this everyday. I will never get such a space once I get back to Bombay, so its my favourite spot at Nid. But what I had in mind while I worked on this was the time I spent under the Khirni tree at the Sanchi Stupa that I visited this May.

a dog got accidently locked in our hostel room last week.

aur us kamine ne room ki puri vaat laga di! pee'd on our

beds, played with our pillows, chewed on our chappals,

emptied the dustbin and a few other things unspeakable!

and i feel like slapping myself when i remember i had

fed this ungrateful guy biscuits few days before this

happened!

while doing this sketch, my hand brushed against the wet just drawn
stroke by a green gel pen...my first reaction was shit! but then i liked
the effect and decided to smudge the entire picture on purpose...
and the result was quite pleasing:) want to try more of these later.

and i dont know why i drew cats...i am not too fond of them,
the annoying cat at my college saw to it...but sometimes they
look cute.

The sea is overwhelming.

As i sit on its shore, time and people begin to fade into
oblivion.The water comes gushing from all sides, leaving behind a
tingling sensation.The waves come over and over again, embracing,
leaving a little too quickly.One minute, i feel complete - loved and
wanted. the other minute they are gone, leaving me behind,
desperate and vulnerable.

The vast expanse of blue bring a false sense of calm.
While the trivialities of the past begin to settle down, many raw
emotions are brought to the surface...emotions i cannot recognise,
feelings i cannot place. but i choose not to dissect them...
i chose to leave them that way.

The sea, i feel shares a deep relationship with everyone that
walks it shores, and someday, it will reveal its answers to me.
Till then i am just content being there.

(Had written this piece after having spent a morning at
Velevar beach, at my friend pradnya's beautiful village Auronda)
